The project aimed at increasing the agricultural and fisheries production by regulating the water collected in a number of valleys, and by developing fishing port facilities in the city of Shihr to improve services provided to small fishermen, whilst improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of rural areas adjacent to coastal cities. This involved key activities such as the construction of dams and irrigation works, among others.
