The project concerns the construction of a hydropower transmission line under the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP). The Iringa – Mbeya Line is a 400kV overhead Iringa to Mbeya. The project is under construction and is expected to be commissioned in 2026, whilst it is projected to increase access to reliable electricity and reduce line losses in the Southwestern part of the country.
