Established in 2011, the DLIST demonstration site for Zanzibar, showed that people from all groups in the communities wanted cleaner and more reliable water and electricity supply, improved access to alternative livelihoods activities and improved community facilities such as class rooms for community education initiatives. The initiative lead to the creation of Multi-Purpose Resource Centres for two districts that were equipped with clinics and solar-drying hubs.
