Background

The project aimed to contribute to reducing poverty and enhancing gender equality amongst 113845 people living on Zanzibar and Pemba islands. The key main activities involved promoting community forest management, improving governance, including equitable benefit sharing and Ensuring poor benefit and are not further disadvantaged. The project outcomes highlight 82754 hectares of forest land protected by established community forest management areas, reducing emissions by 581252 tons of carbon dioxide.
