The Syrian Kalamoon Private University launched a project in 2009 as a response to the significant increase in electricity demand, decline in dam based electricity and environmental pollution plaguing the region. The aim was to promote solar energy adoption. The University produced electricity for its buildings from solar energy. The project has already shown progress, with 6 solar panels provided to aid the university in this process.
