The 100 kW wind turbine project, implemented by DAI and supported by USAID, aimed to demonstrate the potential of wind energy in Somalia. The turbines were successfully erected by Golis Energy and the PPP was developed to give ownership to the government. It targeted the reduction of the use of electricity provided by diesel powered generators, utilising renewable energy to spearhead economic growth and employment opportunities.
