The African Development Bank played a leadership role in infrastructure reconstruction and development in Somalia, establishing a multi-partner Somalia Infrastructure Fund. The project aimed at rehabilitating and developing infrastructure across Somalia, including transport, energy, water and sanitation, and ICT. The funds gained from the project proved sufficient to significantly start rebuilding the infrastructure network, with efforts in Hargeysa focused on substituting charcoal with modern fuels.
