The Government of Senegal with support from the World Bank, developed three pilot stations for sludge production in 2017 to combat wastewater and waste management issues. These stations are located in Cambérène, in the Niayes area and Rufisque. Sewage sludge is reported, however, to be exploited locally for biogas generation or as soil fertilizer; its relevance as an AF is therefore further limited.
