Background

In 2020, the government’s decided to recycle obsolete and old electronic equipment through establishing an e-waste facility. The facility has managed to collect 700 tonnes of e-waste since it was leased out to EnviroServe Rwanda, whilst mitigating 870 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. However, levels of waste have far exceed the recycling capacities of the facility, with plans to open further facilities in the pipelines.
