The City of Kigali embarked on a centralised sewerage system at Giti Cy’inyoni aiming to set up the plant to recycle waste and used water. The project comprised of a 86 kilometres of sewer network. It is estimated that the project will take three years to complete but according to Remy Norbert Duhuze, a director at REMA, it may take about 20 years to cover the whole city of Kigali.
