Background

Yobe state government partnered with the United Nations launching a project aiming to improve food security by teaching local farmers climate-smart agricultural practices. Farmers are taught better ways of intercropping and provided with improved crop variety which increased farm productivity as high as 88%, tackling years-long decline of agricultural productivity due to community conflict and climate variability.
