The Jewel Environmental Initiative aimed to reduce the huge non-biodegradable materials from the environment while empowering youths and women. The programme involved young people being taught how to mitigate climate change and how to turn waste to wealth. Over 100 secondary school students in Gombe have been trained on how to reuse plastics for basic needs, and how to construct block pavements using sand and sachet water nylon.
