The majority of local residents engage in fishing and farming in Bauchi; however, climate change is threatening food security in the state. In 2019, The World Fish Programme played an important role in improving food security by partnering with Kebbi state government to train fisher men and women on how to catch, breed and harvest fish. These efforts formed part of the state's ambitions to assist lower income earners.
