In need of critical conservation, chimpanzees in Ado-Ekiti face extinction due to a lack of protection of their habitat and livelihood. This project complemented ongoing global efforts to conserve endangered species. This was undertaken by collecting data on the remaining populations of chimpanzee species in Ado-Ekiti and proposing conservation programmes to encourage their safeguarding, with 20% of chimpanzee habitat projected to be securitised.
