With financial support from USAID, the Niger state government aimed to provide safe cooking wood stoves to 500,000 households and small businesses under the Safe Cooking Energy Programme. The main recipients of these clean energy are public secondary schools where large scale firewood cooking often takes place. The Nigerian Infrastructure Advisory Facility provided technical assistance on project implementation, while the Nigeria Alliance for Clean Cookstoves supplies the stoves.
