In November 2017, The Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Nigeria awarded funds for many intervention projects in Nigeria under the Ecological Intervention Projects. One of the projects covered in this fund is the gully erosion project in Gboko city, aiming to tackle gully erosion that has threatened livelihoods. Although there has been effort in the past to tackle this erosion, the projects were often abandoned.
