This international climate change mitigation project offered financial reward to national governments who reduce carbon emission through sustainable forest practices, including tree planting and forest preservation. However, grievances built up amongst local residents who claimed that their forest livelihoods have been lost, and although the government promised financial compensation for this loss, this has not yet materialised.
