Background

Local farmers were engaged in adaptive farming practices by adopting irrigation methods, planting disease tolerant seeds, changing planting dates and making ritual offerings to the gods of the land to tackle a decline in cocoa production caused by unfavourable climatic conditions. They utilised various strategies such as using improved variety, disease-tolerant seeds and seedlings, seeking off-farm employment, implementing land and water management practices, using irrigation, and changing planting dates.
