The federal Government of Nigeria set up the Rural Electrification Agency to address the high energy poverty and reliance on petroleum-powered genators. The Agency's work improved off grid connections in rural, underserved communities through public and private sector collaborations. The REA has recently commissioned two hybrid solar mini-grids, to provide uninterrupted power supply to two hospitals in Kogi state, powering medical facilities during the Covid pandemic.
