Pokhara City signed an agreement with Gangwon Province of South Korea and Green City Technology in 2019 to promote green transport infrastructure as a response to rising levels of pollution caused by tourism. The initiative consisted of developing transport infrastructure with greenery in Pokhara which tackled environmental pollution, promoting eco-friendly tourism and reducing transportation costs for tourists in the process.
