Between 2013 and 2018, a USAID funded adaptation project was implemented, aimed at strengthening Mozambique’s ability to build resilience to climate change challenges, especially in vulnerable coastal communities. In Quelimane, about 33 hectares of mangrove were replanted, and 86 hectares of land was prepared for hydrologic restoration. This has reduced the levels of tides and flooding and boosted biodiversity, protecting livelihoods in the process.
