Background

Mocuba solar power plant was Mozambique’s first utility-scale solar power plant with 40 MW of electricity generation capacity implemented in 2019. The initiative was identified as part of a least-cost supply plan to improve the capacity, reliability and diversity of electricity supplies. The plant’s connection to the EDM grid resulted in a seven per cent improvement in the network default level, whilst reducing approximately 79,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
