Background

Terra Nova's main objectives included recycling urban solid waste, decreasing methane emissions and pollutions risks. The process involved receiving urban waste from the municipality, which is then sorted, and the organic matter is used to produce compost which is sold to small local farms and city households. The initiative's natural fertiliser enables significantly improved crop yields, generating more revenues for local farmers, whilst spearheading social rehabilitation by employing underprivileged people.
