Adopted in 2014, the Beira masterplan represented a medium term cooperation process aiming to enhance the city’s resilience to flooding and help it adapt to climate change. The project emphasised providing coastal protection measures, as well as expanding its drainage canals to other parts of the city and the construction of a retention basin. The project has also created opportunities and space for collabo­rative public and public-private projects and investments.
