Cycling is still underdeveloped in Mali, but many clubs have sprung up. The region of Sikasso is considered as the place of origin of Malian cycling. The Ganadougou (geographical name) covers the districts of Niena, Blendio and Finkolo. Ganadougou cyclists could contribute making bikes and cycling more popular, following years old trade patterns via cycling between Ganadougou and Côte d'Ivoire practices by older generations.
