In Malawi, the ‘National Cookstove Steering Committee’, a coordinating body for officials and NGOs working on the has aimed to help homes to adopt cleaner and efficient stoves and fuels. The project has managed to provide alternatives through more fuel efficient and faster ways of cooking, creating more spare time and less deforestation pressure on local resources. Importantly, it has served to reduce smoke-related health conditions and deaths.
