In Madagascar, 74% of active Malagasy people still work in the informal sector. The International Labour Organization, through the International Labor Office (BIT) in Madagascar, is looking into how these informal workers could benefit social protection. Seven informal workers' platforms have been set up to provide access to basic health centres, workers' medical services, inter-company services. amongst other platforms, with further social protection measures considered.
