Initiated in 2011, the main objective of the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project was to improve living conditions in informal settlements in selected urban areas whilst supporting the government’s efforts to address slum formation beyond targeted settlements. The project has achieved tenure security and improving access to basic services for over 1.3 million people, the development of roads, storm-water drainage and footpaths and improved water sources.
