The Bamboo Bike Project aimed at examining the feasibility of implementing bicycles made of bamboo as a sustainable form of transportation in Africa. The project aimed at building bicycles for disadvantaged Africans in rural areas and to stimulate a bicycle building industry in Africa to address local needs. It has proven to a lifeline for families in Africa, improving livelihoods and reducing the number of people living below poverty line.
