The Nakuru County Sanitation Programme based on applying a behavioural change and market-based model of accelerating sanitation improvements. The overall objectives of the programme were to increase hygiene awareness and sanitation coverage, establish collection facilities, transport services for hygienic and sustainable capture and certify large-scale production and sales of human excreta products. The programme has witnessed the construction of storm-water drains, installation of waste receptacles, and construction of wash facilities.
