Background

Under the scheme Domestic Efficient Lighting (DELP), the government aimed to provide energy efficient LED lighting to grid-connected consumers at an affordable price to encourage them to invest in energy efficiency. The large-scale replacement of incandescent lamps and CFL’s with LEDs lead to savings in peak power and lower power consumption of households. This scheme was projected to annually reduce energy consumption by 2300 million units.
