The project was initiated as part of efforts to tide over power crisis in the festive time, commissioning solar plants in the vicinity of the town in 2012. Teaming up with Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency, the district administration commissioned seven solar plants, generating 14MW that lit up roads. The successful implementation of the project brought hope that following the street lights, the overall electricity supply would be further improved.
