Agricultural development with a special thrust on organic farming are the focal points of Mission Haritha Keralam. Encroachments at the Karippel Canal dramatically reduced the width of the canal in many places. As part of the project, silt and waste accumulated in the canal were removed. The canal was then deepened to ensure flow of water, whilst laying coir geotextiles to protect the banks of the waterbody.
