The government’s program has revitalised India’s efforts to rejuvenating the Ganga, following on from the first World Bank project that helped build critical sewage infrastructure in 20 pollution hotspots along the river. This Project helped to build sewage collection and treatment infrastructure in 20 towns along the mainstem of the Ganga, created 1,275 MLD sewage treatment capacity and help foster public mobilisation for Ganga rejuvenation.
