Eco-friendly management of major pests and diseases of vegetables is one of the many agricultural initiatives taken by in Kayamkulam region. It included the establishment of the centre for organic farming and introducing Green technology for rice-based cropping system. It focused on the development of technologies including alternatives for banned pesticides for the management of pests and diseases of major crops in Kerala with special emphasis on biocontrol agents.
