In Guinea Bissau, agriculture and coastal development are the main threats to mangrove decline. To reverse this trend, TRS (The Restoration Initiative) is looking to protect and restore mangroves to improve food security and mitigate climate change impacts. It Intends to achieve about 2700 ha of restored mangrove, a correspondent area with improved agriculture practice and reduce the greenhouse gas emission by 520 493 by 2024.
