Potable water project was launched at Dire Dawa town administration at a cost of 2.8 million Ethiopia Birr by Villeurbanne, which could enhance the current 76 percent of water coverage of the town. Despite initial hopes, the the water supply remains three times less than the water demand, indicating that existing water sources are not adequate for high urbanization rates coupled with the population growth.
