The Adama II (151 MW) wind energy project was developed by the Government of Ethiopia in collaboration with two Chinese contractors. The project addressed the lack of modern energy infrastructure constraining the country’s growth and socioeconomic transformation. The project has contributed to advancing rural economic development through employment creation and infrastructure improvement, the partial transfer of technical skills, knowledge and technologies to local engineers whilst rehabilitating key rural-urban transportation links.
