The Ethiopian government commenced a Chinese funded 270 million dollars water supply project in 2019. It intended to meet the water needs of around 400,000 residents of Mekele city, which is the capital city of Ethiopia's northern Tigray regional state. The project has furthered its supply of water for the needs of industry, agriculture and animal husbandry development, thus contributing to Ethiopia's development.
