As part of a national energy plan, Eritrea will receive up to EUR 175 million ($200 million) for investment in the energy sector, including rehabilitating the national power grid, building stand-alone photovoltaic and wind power supply systems in rural areas and the exploration of geothermal resources. This will improve energy efficiency by rehabilitating the distribution grid in Asmara and Massawa, whilst tapping into cleaner and renewable alternatives.
