Background

The role of gas in Equatorial Guinea’s energy and industrial matrix was spearheaded by the success of the 24-MW Bata thermal station. Gas generates less greenhouse gas than fuel oil used at the Bata plant, leading to a reduction of environmental pollution. The Bata project reduced Equatorial Guinea’s dependence on foreign energy suppliers, which at the same time reduces fuel costs.
