In 2017, MONUSCO installed a solar farm in Goma with a capacity of 650 kW. The project's area of focus was eliminating the use of wood for fuel and reduce dependence on diesel generators. The documented benefits of the project have been to significantly reduce expenditures on fuel, fuel transportation, generator maintenance, boost companies’ businesses, their capacity and their expertise whilst reducing carbon emissions and noise pollution.
