The UNFPA-funded initiative forms part of a wider efforts of eliminating preventable maternal deaths requires the development of a cadre of health care providers who can deliver maternal health services to the highest standards. The project has therefore resulted in committing to strengthening the training of midwives through three higher institutes of pilot medical techniques, initially for the introduction of the Minimum Emergency Device in basic training.
