Guido Murhula, a young green entrepreneur, created "Briquette du Kivu", a small business that collects organic waste from the streets, markets and public bins of the city. This waste is transformed into ecological embers, called "briquettes" to replace charcoal, the manufacture of which is one of the causes of deforestation. This initiative has contributed to tackling a growing waste industry, deforestation and a lack of electricity in sustainable ways.
