The project aims to restore vegetative around the city, sequestering carbon while helping to control lakeshore erosion and mitigate pollution. It is working to re-green not only Bakavu’s cityscapes, but also the minds of residents, by mentoring women in poor and vulnerable communities to participate in urban agriculture. It has achieved planting 30000 trees, reaching 20000 people through environmental education and training 200 women on tree nursery management.
