Background

From 2009, in Gungu, near the city of Kikwit, just under 1 000 hectares were cultivated and planted with acacias. In 2013, a second project was launched, enabling the local population to benefit from 385.5 hectares planted with food crops (cassava, legumes and cereals), and reforested, while 451 hectares of acacias were planted.
