The NGO Umoja accuses 14 mining companies of polluting the soil and the rivers of the city of Likasi. Umoja presented its accusations in a report published in 2013 in the city of Likasi during a workshop on reducing environmental pollution from mining activities. Some of the incriminated mining companies were represented in this workshop and promised to respect their commitments to preserve the environment.
