The World Bank-financed ecological home project helps China to build biogas digesters and change toilets, kitchens, and circles in five provinces benefiting 470,141 rural households, reducing indoor air pollution and saving expenditure on coal fertilizers. This has increased the disposable income of farmers, improves sanitary conditions and the ecological environment, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and improves the quality of life of rural populations.
