Background

Emile Adimou experimented with using cotton stems instead of wood to create furniture, using them to make stools, tables and doors. This is paving the way for a new solution to reducing deforestation in Benin. In addition to being used for making furniture, using cotton stems could help increase the income of local cotton producers and reduce deforestation by using annual biomass to replace forest wood in manufacturing.
