Background

The strong dependence of the Beninese population (i.e. 80%) on wood energy for domestic consumption, firewood and charcoal for cooking leads to the deforestation of the territory and exposes the country to climate risks. The PANA, FEM and PNUD have supported the construction of photovoltaic plants. The project provides lighting, electrical energy for food preservation, mobile phone charging and access to information.
